Getting to Know Denali:
Can you remember the moment that you wanted to become a hairdresser? Yes! I was working at a nightclub in San Francisco and was helping prepare for a hairstylist event. I remember the event looked really fun and some of the stylists asked if I was also there as a stylist; that got me thinking about going to beauty school so I could do hair for a living and not just for fun.
Why do you love working at the Glam and who is your ideal client? I love working at the Glam because I get to be my authentic self and help others be more comfortable in their skin. As a queer and trans person myself, I love to help other LGBTQIA folks affirm their identities through styles and cuts.
How would your friends & family describe you? My friends would describe me as creative, funny, and artistic.
What in the beauty industry inspires and motivates you? I really love queer editorial looks; I’m also very inspired by hair in fantasy movies and productions.
In what ways do you inspire your clients, and how do you like to inspire them? I love to instill a sense of confidence and self discovery in my clients; I like to give my clients the knowledge they need to get the styles they want so they can express their own creativity!
What hobbies/passions do you have outside of hair? Outside of hair, I am involved in the leather and kink communities. I also enjoy supporting queer art and playing a good video game.
What else do you want clients to know about yourself? I like to use my skills to help them transition their hair (whatever that means to them) in a way that will be comfortable and affirming. I love watching my clients grow into themselves and express their personalities through their hair.
