It was definitely a slow process that I honestly didn’t expect to evolve into a career. I started out just doing my hair, then it moved into doing my family’s hair, then my friends’, and from there people started pressuring me to go to school for it, and here I am!
Why do you love working at the Glam and who is your ideal client?
I love working at the Glam for so many reasons. From how incredible my coworkers are to the amazing clients that I get to interact with, I honestly can’t see myself working anywhere else. My ideal clients are on the quiet side, mostly people who like to relax while they get their hair done. I like friendly conversation, but rarely initiate it.
How would your friends & family describe you?
They describe me as entertaining, independent, and fearless.
What in the beauty industry inspires and motivates you?
I just love being able to change someone’s view of themselves. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone who walked in unhappy with their hair leave feeling amazing about themselves. I get a lot of color inspiration from photos of nature, and picking colors out of them to create a unique look every time. I’m motivated by the competitiveness of the industry, and am always challenging myself to do better and ultimately be the best stylist I can be.
In what ways do you inspire your clients, and how do you like to inspire them?
I think I inspire my clients a lot through my positivity and honesty. I’m not afraid to tell someone that we can’t do something and explain why we can’t do it and what other solutions would be so that they are completely happy with the outcome. I’m the kind of person who’s able to see the good in almost everything, and I try to bring that out a lot in others because I want them to be able to see the good things too.
What hobbies/passions do you have outside of hair?
I have two dogs that I love to take on adventures, I love being surrounded by nature and going hiking with friends, and I love to draw and paint whenever I have spare time. I also enjoy teaching myself to play new instruments when I’m bored (right now I’m dabbling in learning to play/improve on banjo!) On the side, I am a permanent makeup artist, meaning I do microblading, ‘powder fill’ brows, and permanent eyeliner. I’m a gemini, so I love to learn as much as I can about anything I can.
What else do you want clients to know about yourself?
I am partially deaf! I have about 50-75% hearing loss in both ears, and some days are better than others. I lost my hearing only a few years ago, so I do not speak much sign language, and having to continually remind people can be frustrating. So please don’t take it the wrong way if I repeat stuff back to you to make sure I got it right, and mostly make sure to enunciate please 🙂 Also if I’m quiet, I’m not trying to be rude, just sometimes I’m not a very chatty person.
